About Vincent's Heating & Plumbing
Since 1959, Vincent's Heating & Plumbing has been keeping St. Clair County homes comfortable, safe, and energy efficient. What started as a small, family-run business in Port Huron has grown into the area’s largest residential HVAC service provider. We’re a plumbing and HVAC business built on decades of craftsmanship and a foundation of community trust.
Instead of chasing new construction work, VHP specializes in working with existing homes. Our team knows how to engineer and install complete HVAC and plumbing systems that fit the way families live today. Although we’re 67 years old, we continually seek ways to enhance our services to meet customer needs. An example of this is the air quality testing equipment and training we invested in several years ago in response to customer concerns.
Behind our excellent service is a second-generation, family-owned team that values reliability and long-term relationships. With 25 dedicated employees, VHP isn’t just about fixing furnaces or installing water heaters. Our business is all about helping homeowners enjoy peace of mind, season after season.
Why St. Clair Residents Choose VHP
Whether you're attending one of the many special events hosted by the City of St. Clair, like Icy Bazaar in the winter or the popular summer Riverfest, your home should remain a place you can relax in total comfort once the festivities wind down. And, when that isn’t possible, we’re here to help. Vincent's Heating & Plumbing is unlike other plumbing and HVAC companies. Below are six things that set us apart from the crowd:
- Professional Plumbers and Technicians- Our technicians are drug-free, polite, and well-groomed. But, more importantly, they respect your space. They explain your options clearly, answer your questions, and clean up thoroughly before leaving.
- Superior Training and Expertise- Home technology changes quickly, and so do HVAC and plumbing standards. That’s why our team undergoes advanced, ongoing training that keeps them at the top of the industry. We want to ensure that who we assign for your HVAC or plumbing service is the best in their field.
- Transparent Pricing- No hidden fees. No surprises. Flat-rate pricing. You’ll always know the cost of your furnace or plumbing repair before it's done. We always provide you with our best price, along with detailed explanations of all work and any limitations.
- Flexible Financing- Major plumbing jobs or a complete HVAC replacement can come as a surprise. To make larger costs more manageable, we offer flexible financing options that spread out the cost into affordable monthly payments.
- Convenient Service Hours- Our company is set up to accommodate your busy schedule. That’s why we provide furnace and plumbing service 6 days a week, Monday to Saturday. That ensures banking hours won’t stop you from getting the furnace or toilet fix you need.
- Written Guarantees You Can Count On- Our St. Clair HVAC and plumbing company provides excellent service and guarantees it in writing. We promise you’ll be satisfied with our processes and results. Aren’t happy with the water heater or furnace you received? Please let us know so we can take the necessary steps to make it right.
Our St. Clair AC Experts Keep You Cool
Hot, stuffy rooms or uneven cooling are no match for our team of air conditioning experts. Whether your AC suddenly quits during a heat wave or you need AC maintenance to keep things running, Vincent's Heating & Plumbing has you covered.
We install, repair, and service air conditioning systems to keep your St. Clair home comfortable throughout the summer. This is especially important in July when 90-degree days are not unheard of. In addition to central air systems, we also work on ductless cooling setups.
In most cases, we try to fix cooling systems. We know most people aren’t looking to spend thousands on an upgrade. However, if replacing the AC unit is the best option, we’ll be upfront about it. Multiple options will be provided to ensure you end up with an air conditioner that fits your budgetary and comfort needs. If you’re adding air conditioning for the first time, we’re happy to provide a quote on initial setup (or price out a ductless AC system).
With VHP’s experienced AC technicians on the job, reliable cooling is never more than a call away.
Our Heating Services Make St. Clair’s Winters Less Miserable
Is your furnace not kicking on? Hearing strange noises from your boiler? Cold spots making your home uncomfortable? Then, you’ll want to schedule an appointment with our heating experts. In a place where temperatures often drop below freezing, putting off furnace or boiler repairs is a bad idea.
Our certified technicians quickly diagnose problems to get your heating system running again. We service and repair all major brands of heating systems, including those from Trane, Goodman, and American Standard. We guarantee a reliable fix, so you won’t be left shivering when a cold midwinter breeze washes in off the river.
Have an old furnace that’s past its prime? Have you needed help with two different issues this year alone? Sure, we can often get an aging system working again, but we cannot make it young again. At some point, your money will be better invested in a new system. We can provide a quote on boiler or heater replacement so you can decide. We’ll only suggest this service if it’s the best way to preserve your long-term comfort. That’s one of the things that makes VHP the best heating company in .
Heat Pump Services
Not too long ago, heat pumps weren’t an option in . Our cold winters necessitated a separate heating system. But inverter advances have almost completely removed that disadvantage. These days, heat pumps are an efficient way to enjoy year-round comfort in Michigan. However, they require regular care to maintain optimal performance.
Whether you rely on an air-source or geothermal heat pump, our team can provide everything from seasonal maintenance to emergency repairs. Count on VHP to keep your heat pump working efficiently so your home stays cozy in the winter and cool in the summer.
Get Year-Round Comfort with a Heat PumpHere to Help Everyone in St. Clair Breathe Easier
Indoor air quality (IAQ) has a considerable impact on your family’s comfort and health in St. Clair. And, with all the Canadian wildfires affecting our air quality, it’s more important than ever. Luckily, IAQ is something VHP specializes in.
If you’re struggling with allergies, dust, or stuffy indoor air, our solutions can make a difference. And it all starts with a comprehensive air quality test. That allows us to identify the exact problem. It could be anything from mold to radon to pet dander. Correctly combating these issues starts by identifying them.
Our team of St. Clair air quality experts installs air purifiers, humidity control systems, and UV germicidal lights. We also offer professional duct cleaning. These things work together to improve airflow, reduce allergens, and create a cleaner, healthier home year-round.

How Preventive HVAC Maintenance in St. Clair Saves You Money
In St. Clair, winter temperatures can plunge below freezing, and summers bring sticky humidity. Heating and cooling systems often run smoothly until the moment they break down. Unfortunately, that moment usually comes when you need your furnace most. In that busy time of year, costs rise, and repair appointments are booked weeks in advance.
Regular HVAC maintenance protects your investment and keeps your home comfortable. Here's how regular tune-ups keep money in your pocket:
- Prevents Costly Breakdowns: Routine inspections find worn parts, dirty filters, and electrical issues early. This prevents mid-season furnace failures and lowers the risk of emergency calls in busy seasons.
- Extends System Life: Regular tune-ups can help your HVAC system last five or so years longer. This delays costly replacements and keeps your equipment running well.
- Cuts Energy Bills: A well-maintained system runs efficiently. It uses less energy to heat and cool your St. Clair home, leading to lower monthly utility bills. Over the course of a year, those reduced bills can actually add up to significant long-term savings.

Frequently Asked Questions
What furnace size do I need for my home in St. Clair?
Most homes in St Clair need 30 to 60 BTUs per square foot due to our harsh winters. A 1,500 sq ft home typically needs around 75,000-90,000 BTUs. But guessing is a fool’s game. An oversized furnace wastes energy while an undersized one can't keep you warm during cold snaps. Always get an HVAC professional to calculate the right size for your specific home.
Why is regular HVAC maintenance particularly important for homes in St. Clair?
St. Clair's extreme seasonal temperature swings (from below freezing to +80°F) and humidity put extra stress on HVAC systems, causing parts to expand and contract repeatedly. Without regular maintenance, systems work harder and break down more often during extreme temperatures. Preventive HVAC care catches small problems before they become expensive emergency repairs during midwinter or summer heatwaves.
How long does HVAC service in take?
Routine maintenance visits typically take a couple of hours and include checking filters, cleaning coils, testing controls, and inspecting safety systems. Simple repairs can often be completed during the same visit, while emergency repairs may take anywhere from 30 minutes to five or six hours. Complete system installations typically require one to two days. Where you fall on that scale depends on system complexity and whether ductwork modifications are needed. If you want a specific timetable, ask our HVAC technician.
Do you service all HVAC brands?
Yes, our certified technicians service all major HVAC brands, including Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, and York. We keep commonly required replacement parts on hand for speedy repairs. Our team is trained to work on new models and technologies. Whether your system is five months or 20 years old, we have the expertise to diagnose and repair any issues that may arise.
How often should I have my HVAC system serviced in St. Clair's?
St. Clair's harsh winters and humid summers require twice-yearly maintenance, with heating system service in the fall (September-October) and cooling system service in spring. This schedule prepares your furnace before heavy winter use and your AC before summer heat arrives. Our HVAC maintenance includes cleaning, checking refrigerant levels, testing safety controls, and replacing filters.
What will plumbing service in St. Clair cost me?
The cost of plumbing service depends on the type of repair or installation. Minor fixes, such as unclogging drains or repairing a leaky faucet, are usually affordable. They often fall in the $100 to $300 price range. Larger jobs like water heater replacement or sewer line work will cost more, sometimes into the thousands of dollars. Contact us today to learn more about our pricing. We provide upfront, transparent estimates before starting any work, so there are no surprises.
How do I know I need a plumber?
You should call a St. Clair plumber if you notice issues such as persistent leaks, dripping faucets, slow-draining sinks, or frequent clogs. Low water pressure, a lack of hot water, or visible signs of water damage are also clear indicators that professional help is needed. Even minor plumbing issues can quickly escalate into larger and more costly problems if left unaddressed. So it’s always better to handle plumbing issues sooner rather than later.
What are some signs that I need help with my HVAC system?
If your HVAC system is struggling, you’ll often notice uneven temperatures or hot and cold spots around your home. Strange noises, unusual odors, and rising energy bills from Semco or DTE are also early indicators of a problem. Frequent cycling, weak airflow, or a decline in your indoor air quality suggest your system may need professional attention. Noting the need for furnace repair early prevents expensive breakdowns and keeps your system running efficiently.
What will be the cost of my Furnace or Boiler repair?
Repair costs for your furnace or boiler can vary based on the model of system, the extent of the issue, and any replacement parts needed. For example, a simple thermostat fix costs far less than replacing a blower motor or heat exchanger. Typically, repairs in fall in the area of $350. At VHP, we diagnose the problem first and give you a precise, honest estimate before beginning work.
Do you offer financing or discounts in St. Clair?
Yes! We understand that HVAC and plumbing expenses can be significant and unexpected. That’s why we offer financing options to make major projects more manageable. We also run seasonal specials and discounts! Contact us to ask about current promotions and the financing plans available in St. Clair.

Tom, Jay, and Tyler were great. They took out my old 40 yr old boiler and had the new one installed in no time. ( Not to mention, they also had to run new piping for the system). I no longer dread cold Michigan nights.

18 year old A/C died over the winter - lost its Freon. With change to new Freon, did not seem economical to recharge and hope for another year or two out of a machine that usually lasts about 15 years. As staying on old Freon also did not seem a smart choice for the future, needed to replace the system This required removing and reinstalling a 3 ton air handler in the attic above the second floor (1920s home with steam heat) and upgrading the electrical. Also, since air had not been routed to an apartment above the garage, wanted that done, too. Vincent's (particularly Tom and Mike) was very helpful in identifying several ways to meet my needs and then insuring the path I choose was completed correctly. With their expert help, I now evenly cool about a third more living space with the same or maybe even slightly less electrical load. Two jobs exceptionally well done!
